VWCSA at VKC 2020 by VAG Cafe

Here at the Cafe of VAG, we love to support the Volkswagen Club of SA when they have events. They're always put together just right, but when it comes to the racing events we always wondered why the field of cars is usually made up of non-club members as well as non-VAG cars, especially with so many hot and fast cars in the club - we know they're there because we helped to make many of them fast. Well we're happy to repot...

Solberg attends the VWCSA’s My Car Got Shot!

Ok, ok, that was a clickbait sorta heading, but you would have visited here anyway because here at VAG Cafe we know you're as passionate with all things Volkswagen as we are. Buuuuuut Solberg was there, if you really wanna get technical. This post is actually about the annual My Car Got Shot event hosted by the Volkswagen Club of SA, which is always a winner, and this year it went sort of on the lines of last year's one with Club Chairman Ian Foat once against showing off his...

Missed #DubRun 2k18? VAG Cafe didn’t…

Sooo... DubRun 2k18. I've been on a few of these trips to Durban myself, probably half of them although remembering which years is a little bit of a mission. This will be the second time I've covered it for VAG Cafe though and it's an honour to do so because of a fact that many of you may not know - the founders of VAG Cafe were also among the first to introduce the DubRun back in 2007. Basically it started out as a trip to Durban with the Volkswagen...

VAG Cafe rolled along for the VWCSA Midnight Run

When it came time to head out to the Midnight Run hosted by our good mates at the Volkswagen Club of South Africa, the weather was a little on the miff side with a healthy dose of rain and temperatures more reminiscent of a winter cold front. That's usually a bad thing, but in my experience it's pretty much fact that bad weather keep at least half of the possible attendees away, which means if the weather was great the chaos would have been on another level. With rain and...

When VWCSA hits the track, VAG Cafe is there!

If you're in the Volkswagen circles, you'll likely be aware of people complaining because most of the events the Volkswagen Club of South Africa holds exclude those with a track addiction, but with boss man Ian Foat back to steer the club again things have changed for the better. The latest event hosted by the Club took place at Laserfiche Raceway, more commonly known as VKC after the Vereeniging Kart Club, and it was brilliant from start to finish - but you knew that or you wouldn't see it on...

OTF 2017 by Cape Stance – VAG Cafe was on scene

One of the most highly regarded events on the aftermarket scene in Cape goes by the name of Only The Fittest, and since inception in 2011 it's been getting better and better. VAG Cafe was in Cape Town over December when the event, hosted by CapeStance, and made a point of attending to check out how the Cape's show scene compares to the Jozi scene - with a focus on all things VAG of course. With a few years of this show in the bag we expected a great venue with...

The VWCSA free dyno day – VAG Cafe pulled in.

On Sunday the 24th July the VWCSA and some of their mates descended on Oettinger in Edenvale for the club's 2nd annual free dyno day. Yeah, that's right, a free dyno day for club members - is there anything better? Well yes, there is. A free dyno day for club members with free food and drinks too!  The VWCSA keeps setting new standards, other clubs should start taking notes, this is but one of the reasons the current club comm has ensured that the club ranks as the best around. As...

VAG Cafe attends My Car Got Shot 2.0…

So the 28th May saw the second instalment of the Volkswagen Club of SA's 'My Car Got Shot' event - Version 2.0. The first one, the inaugural one, took place last year and was a bigger success than anticipated. The venue was Randridge Mall's parking lot, an expansive place, but it was too small for the amount of cars that pulled through. This meant that for 2.0, a bigger venue was needed and Centurion Lifestyle Centre ticked all the boxes. Easy to get to on the highway, loads of space,...

FR&R Winter Dyno Day

Saturday the 5th June was the date set aside http://www.laviagraes.com/viagra-jet-pfizer for the FR&R Winter Dyno Day and as usual, when an awesome VAG-related event comes along, VAG Cafe hops on board as one of the sponsors. Blues and his crew usually host successful events and this one promised to be just as good as the rest of them. Also, with the that cold front up from the Cape, even Pretoria felt the cooler temps. We all know that cooler temps means better power figures (I'd go into the scientific reason for that...

OB1 Dyno Day at KAR Performance

We're a rad bunch here, always up for a good time. So when our mates at OB1 told us they wanted to hold a dyno day we jumped on board to help out. It was all very much a last minute affair as far as organising events goes - just two weeks from inception through to cars angrily throwing down on the rollers. There was a bit of a worry about attendance figures because of this and also because the date fell on the 23rd of the month, usually people...
