Located In The Boost Pipe (small design MAP sensor)
The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor is used in most modern vehicles and it provides instantaneous manifold pressure information to the engine control unit, or ECU. The date received is used to calculate air density and determine the engine’s air mass flow rate.
Anything that interferes with the MAP sensor’s ability to monitor the pressure differential may upset the fuel mixture and ignition timing. This includes a problem with the MAP sensor itself. If your MAP sensor is going bad, you will notice surging, tough idle, a rich fuel condition, which may cause spark plug fouling and a loss of power and fuel economy.
