Our mates over at Xclusiv Modz are known for hosting shows worth attending, and they’ve just done it again with Polo Meet 2k15. Main man Fa’eez decided to try and get a bunch of Polo drivers together to show off their rides. After all they’ve been around for many years now and can be found in all states of tune imaginable and are a popular choice since the Mk1 Golf went out of production. The range of these cars is huge, GTs, Vivos, GTis, TDis and all sorts in between. So the point was to try and have the largest gathering of Polos in SA.
Now I didn’t see anyone counting, and I’m also sure this hasn’t been done before so I reckon that this event was the largest gathering in SA to date and has simply set the bar for the next one. I’m expecting different provinces to take up the challenge and try the same thing, which is a great idea if you ask me. I tried a session on the Googly to see what the largest gathering of these cars is on the world stage, but all I keep getting was stuff about horses. I mean I like horses (that’s a lie) but I like the other kind of horsepower. If there is a record, it would probably be in Germany, or at least somewhere in Europe because they’ve had Polo models for much longer than SA has. The Polos that pitched were great, more new than old strangely enough. I also think that a good many stayed away because of family commitments on a long weekend. They missed out though because it was a great atmosphere and the weather played along too, you’d been forgiven for thinking things had jumped forwards a fair bit to the middle of summer. The Polos parked along a section of road through Zoo Lake and pretty soon there was no space available so guys started parking on both sides of the road. This upset the local Metro chaps a lil but hey, when are they ever happy? Some
